A computational exploration of melodic patterns in Arab-Andalusian music

چکیده

Here we present a computational approach to identifying melodic patterns in dataset of 145 MusicXML scores with the aim contributing centonization theory Moroccan tradition Arab-Andalusian Music – development by expert performer and researcher this tradition, Amin Chaachoo. Central his work is definition set characteristic patterns, or centos, for each ṭab‘, mode. We apply three methods: TF-IDF, Maximally General Distinctive Patterns (MGDP) Structure Induction Algorithm (SIA) identify at level ṭab‘. A substantial number centos proposed Chaachoo are identified new retrieved. discussion about obtained results promoted elicitation other categories recurrent different from deeper musicological knowledge tradition.
